For what it's worth, you'll end up with a much stronger engine if you beat the snot out of it from day one.
The first 20 miles are critical, but you can still get a better ring seal by loading it up properly.
If you have not changed the oil yet and have put 100 miles on it, do so immediately with a good dino oil.

At 150 miles now, I'm past the 'beat-it-into-perfection' period. But I'll start driving it harder and harder as the miles pile on.

The cam galling issue isn't a lubrication problem, it's a production issue with the cams themselves (they weren't finished hard enough). It was much more an issue with earlier builds, so chances are you won't run into it.

Regardless, I'm going to try to balance not voiding my warranty with driving it harder for the next few hundred miles. But with about 150 miles, I'm quickly getting to the point where it doesn't matter anymore.
997carrerasblk06, very nice. The '11+ Elises are beautiful. I would have gotten one if it wasn't for the price difference, and the one I bought having every option. Good luck! Let us know if you move forward with buying one!

Come Springtime, it'll be perfect.
