Current limited edition G55's?

I know, I am a big fan of the car (I have one). Some people see it as if its a Murcielago, they fit whatever Hamann has instock and use it to grab attention, park it in front a posh hotel or a casino etc. Totally the wrong car for that thing.

Its an immense subject because in some countries in the Gulf its a dime a dozen be it G500 and G55, it was a fashion statement at sometime like the R8 when it first came out. Lots of Black G-class here and the second most common has to be White.
I got it because I was a fan of the car for many years, here is mine its Matte Silver from the factory. Its a 2010 Edition 79 G55. One out of 79 made.

Black exterior or white/Red interior being going on a trend for 1 1/2-2 years now.
Black exterior or white/Sand interior
Black exterior or white/ Porcelain (creme)
The G-Class sells well here, they always order because most customers dont like to wait. In UAE you can find them in stock in any colour, its like going to the factory, their allocation is crazy.
They were going to Discontinue the G-class in 2010, they extended the contract with the Austrian plant till 2015 because there were sales increase in the GCC region and Russia. The GCC is the most important market for the G55 and highest sales, 4th in General for the G-class sales.

Thank you, the dealerships here always have 5-6 cars in stock. The most common orders are:

This is very interesting.
So, is it safe to day we will no longer see this legendary body style in production past 2015?
I hope they make a rugged, off-road version before they stop production.

They might stop it in 2015, if not then they might update it because of still high sales.

Mo,
You seem to be the resident G-wagon expert here. I'm just curious on a few things.
The G-wagon is legendary for being incredibly capable off-road. Is the AMG version less capable than the standard due to performance upgrades? Or, do they slap in a new engine and call it a day? I used to drive a G55 quite regularly at work, and I was always curious if there was a compromise made for the extra power. Also, where in Austria are they built? I just spent a month there this past fall - just curious.
Sorry to hijack the thread, Mike. You need to get a punch card from your dealerships... buy 5, get one free!!
