I think that the 599's will continue to fall, especially when the new one comes out...

We got one this summer 08 model Rosso over Beige only 800km for 226,000. This car felt brand new and the interior is very clean. They depreciate but we got a 30k discount through the dealer because he is a friend of my uncle.

This thread is a bit old, but my case exactly! last week i decided to get either one, and after some googling and visiting the dealers i made the decision the same day. 2008 black with cognack interior, most options, 11000 km 599.
Why? first most importantly: it will depreciate at a MUCH lower rate (and was much cheaper!!!), and with a deal i got i can sell it in 6 months with little to no losses if i want to. so when u translate it into numbers: 1 year with a 599 will set u back 10k whereas a year with sls will set u back 35-50k depending on a number of things.
second reason is (dont laugh) practicality! 599 has bigger trunk and more storage space inside!!! and the mercs doors are not that practical either...
third reason: looks (just my personal preference). i am still not sold on the sls looks, but it's growing on me. i like to feel special, but sls just doesnt cut it for me.
and in all honesty chicks dig ferraris more then mercs (and this is kinda important for me)
LAST REASON BUT VERY IMPORTANT: next year sls roadster is coming out... this is where things are getting interresting for me!!! 599 convertible is wayyyyyy too pricey, 458 convertible due Q4 2011, and the sls roadster should be here before next summer! ok, so u loose the gullwing doors, but who cares???i dont.

anyhow, my 599 is coming tomorrow or the day after. oh, and i have other cars so i wanted to choose a classy car this time for "business" look, and 599 is perfect.

P.S: i know i didnt compare driving experience cause i'm biased towards 599 cause i always had a thing for it. also this week i had someone lend me an audi r8 v10 convertible, and let me tell ya: i have driven MANY exotics and i found the driving experience to be one of the best i ever had! sharp steering! car is compact and responsive! and the v10 sounds beautiful! (i am crazy about exhauust sound and my fav is still v8, something along the lines of modena 360 with a aftermarket exhaust, but the r8 blew my mind! and i used to own a gallardo which r8 is drived from, but i sold it cause i did not like the car at all. r8 is a different story.
i would not buy an r8 cause the looks just dont make me feel special enough. and i am an attention whore.

Which would I buy? The 599. No question. Which should YOU buy? The one that makes you smile more every time you see it and get in it.

For sure it is not a quiet car. With the transmission in C and being easy on the throttle you won't listen much, it's true, but that's a plus when the car is used for daily driving. When you really enjoy it I can assure you'll hear the engine.

I don't have problems with the doors (1.8 mts). Sure if you are smaller you'll have some troubles, but asking anybody to close your door is too much.
MB didn't include an electric system to save weight (was about 40kg). That is a point to discuss...

The strap would be a good idea but it would have to be so long it would be in the way when the door was closed.

wow $465k USD for the SLS....Wait for the 12 month $200k standard MB depreciation curve is what I would say.

I will say it is the ONLY MB I've seen in 10 years that made me think twice about one. Great lines and I really have always liked the Gullwings of yesteryear.
You are exaggerating, the C63 is loud and the SLS is much louder.

Here you can buy an SLS from $270k.
