SLS Care (dry sump)

SLS Care (dry sump)
The dealer told us to keep the car running for no less than 10 minutes (no short trips). Is this really necessary?

It's a modern car so short trips should be fine, the dry sump system means there is no oil pan (sump) as such and the oil is stored in a seperate tank. The oil system is normally presurised with an external pump, the dry sump system is popular in racing due to the pump constantly being able to supply oil to the internals and not having to rely on an oil pick up in a deep pan. This means under hard driving such as cornering, braking, accelerating etc the oil is never sloshing away from the pick up such as in a pan. A dry sump system shouldn't mean no short journeys or short run times as race cars such as hillclimb cars only run for maybe a couple of minutes at the most and they do ok.
