Adding files to iTunes help

I have a bunch of tv shows on an external HD that I want to try and put into iTunes so that I can watch them on my iPad but have no clue how to do it. Can you even do it? Well I look at the file they all say avi if that helps. Any input would be awesome.

Anyone have Simba's email?

Transfer them to your computer then drag them to iTunes. That should do it. Or go to iTunes window, choose 'Add to Library' from file.

I tried to add files option and it won't do it. When I click it and choose a file nothing happens. Dragging doesn't work with itunes for anything as far as I know.

Drag it to itunes in the dock. It works. Are the files saved on your computer?

yes the same as iPhoto you have to drag to the dock icon not on the screen itself when the program is open. GL

cornfed is an unknown quantity at this point
Place the files into the folder inside the iTunes folder called "automatically add to iTunes." If iTunes is open, it should quickly process them or it will move them into a newly created folder called "unable to import."
