I believe you connect your old phone to iTunes, then select "Store" and deauthorize the phone.

Genius.

Except you would still get app updates etc.

Thanks Chrissy.

EDIT: Still can't do it, where in the store is the option? There is only the option to deauthorize this computer?

If you're connected, click STORE, then scroll down. It's near the middle/bottom of the options. WIthout any device connected, the option will be to deauthorize the computer itself.

Maybe once your in, your in, for life.

Deauthorize all computers associated with your apple ID and then reauthorize the computer you are using. I had this problem when I got my most recent MBP. I had sold my previous ones and couldn't deauthorize them individually.

iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
