I installed the new Lion update and it included a firmware update to my 27" iMac...

Not sure what this update was supposed to do but for whatever reason my internet wireless connection is far faster and seems to be more stable...

The computer seems faster is this my imagination?

download speed tests show 9.67....upload is still a tame .49...Gonna call Time warner see about upgrading to next level...wish we had FIOS already!

this is so weird...I had taken apart my computer and home office to move and re set up but with a new project I dont have time so i put it all back together..nice waste of 2 hours.

I installed the update right before moving it...it;s all back where it was but the speed difference is more than double on internet..

didn't touch router or modem..

it's now usable...

I had FIOS at my house and miss it but at least it's much better now (hope it lasts)

 

They do tend to add a few performance tweaks here and there with each revision. It's likely the update and associated filesystem preen just generally fixed a few things that may have been impacting performance.

 

It may have been the Airport update that was issued that affected your increased wireless performance, rather than the actual 10.7.3 update.

 

That's what I think too...especially the firmware update.

Maybe this too...but I thought that was done a few days before...not sure.

But the performance of the computer seems faster too...it (might) be my imagination because much of what I do is related to uploading or downloading at the same time but for whatever reason this was a significant change for me. Really makes a big difference..

 

or maybe it's like when you wash or car or change the oil, the car just feels better? lol

could be...and it could be the airport connection...but it's 2x the speed for internet...

 

Bahahahaa- when my car is clean all the little things that bother me disappear and I think, "I can keep this another year!"
