Why would you loose all your data? Unless you a complete numpty and don't back it up properly, I'm pretty sure it would be virtually impossible to loose everything.

Updated to iOS5 without any problems, except for the fact that all of my data was deleted: most importantly, all of my documents in Pages. HELP?

I didn't have to back anything up first. I'm assuming it already did that for me. It started by backing up my iPhone then once it all loaded it automatically installed it. Sutler, did you maybe eject it before it had the opportunity to reinstall it?

When I was updating to iOS5 it said backing up iPad, and I synced it before. But now when I look on iTunes there are only about 10 apps there, mostly ancient ones from my iPod. Earliest restore point is the day I bought it. I don't care about the rest of the apps, I just need my documents.

And no, I didn't eject it. I waited until EVERYTHING was done before unplugging it.

tried the new notification centre on a friend's phone today
so i'm currently syncing my iphone to the new t520 before updating to os5

i was impressed with the convenience of the new notifications (esp when screen is closed) but i forgot to check if i can now see how many emails have been received?

yeah make sure you do a backup of all of your apple devices before updating...otherwise it will restore your last backup which could be ancient...
