It's the multitasking. Try multitasking on the early iPhones....

I also think its stupid, and you almost want an option in the app to close and shut it down when you exit, instead of having to double-tap then click the x.

But why would you even want multitasking? To quickly flip between apps or something? Like, you're writing an email and you suddenly want to go check out if it rains in Guatemala in the weather thing? If all the frekain' apps weren't running all the time, it works just as quickly to start the app from scratch as it does flipping between them.

I can sort of see the point of an app still running if you are in the middle of typing something in it, but if you are in, say, a "home" menu of whatever you're running, it should fecking quit itself upon exit.

there's no need to shut down the apps. memory is allocated to only the most recent apps. all the other apps are closed for all intensive purposes.
