There will be an update of the iPod range very soon. (Early September) I don't know how much they will update the shuffle, but it might be worth to wait.

I got a gen 2 for my wife, since she runs and needed one sooner rather than later.

Dohhhh, I wish you would have posted this earlier. This headphone control was what made her NOT want the latest one.

I am just not going to mention the adapter, and she'll be happy with the gen 2 I got in the mail today.
