iPod Nano Replacement (1st gen)

Just incase anyone is still wondering, Apple is indeed replacing affected 1st gen nanos with (probably refurb) current "LCD postage stamp" nanos, sans accessories.

If you have one, you can check to see if it's affected here.

A potentially not good battery issue was identified with a batch of them, so they're replacing them rather than repair them, as it's cheaper to just send out a new one.

They didn't strictly have to replace them, but that's just how Apple rolls.

I see you had yours replaced, but I wonder how many people still have those? I know I went through iPods like candy.

My thoughts exactly. Tbh- I don't even recall what happened with my old iPods. I didn't sell them and didn't throw them out. Since my iPod touch, last gen nano, last gen shuffle and iPhone, I'm good for now!

I sent mine out about 2 weeks ago. How long did it take for your replacement to show up Simba?

I think this will make a tasty accessory for my 848!

I kept all of mine, right up to my original firewire 5GB. They're industrial art, no sense tossing it in the trash.

Sent mine in mid-November, got the new one yesterday. So, a month and change.

Very cool of them to do that. I sent back two of the 1st gen Nanos so I guess I'll be getting two of these new ones.
