Be wary of the 3d Gen Shuffle!

Just bought one without doing any research.

Controls are located on the ear bud cords! Such that you can't control the thing at all with 3rd party headphones!!

Stupid!

That, and the fact that you should do combos to change a track. I still prefer & use the 2nd Gen iPod Shuffle.

Combos:

"To be more precise, the headphone cord has an in-line 3-button controller a few inches below the right earbud. This setup allows the user to increase or decrease the volume with the outer buttons, pause with the middle button, move forward with a double-click in the middle, and move backward a track with a triple-click. Fast-forwarding within a track can be done by double-clicking and holding. It’s not Apple’s typical intuitive system, but it’s not exactly rocket science."

You can with this.

A lot of vendors (at the moment Sony and Sennheiser) are coming out with headphones specific to the shuffle with their own implementation of the remote, too.

Seems overly complicated and kinda dumb, imo.

Yawn.
