GMAIL and GOOGLE hosted are not exchange type accounts. All exchange can be set-up as push on the iphone to have exchange you need a hosted or your own server. I have exchange and use push and you can set it to push various folders I only push the inbox.

Actually you can setup google/gmail accounts via the exchange account type on an iPhone so everything is pushed immediately a la blackberry.

Then you are golden however push email has nothing to do with exchange it has to do with the BB email platform.
