New iPhone coming when?

I'm thinking of getting my mom an iPhone for her birthday (about 2 weeks from now) but I'm not sure if there's an update right around the corner since the buyer's guide @ macrumors.com is giving a negative advice. Anybody in the loop on this?

I heard it will be announced on Jan 27th and the phone will come out within a couple of months. For your mom though, the 3G/3GS should be more than enough.

Historically the new ones come out in June. At least that's been the case for the last 3 years. I would bet on that being the case with the next release as well :-)

I agree, its only been 6 months since the last release...

Apple's new keynote is on the 26th, where they are said to announce a lot of new stuff concerning "mobility" so just wait until they announce that.

They are probably going to reveal the MacTablet and most likely some major iphone updates.
