Same way every single PC builder to one extent or other made brightly colored semi-transparent things well into the new millennium. And white opaque things after that. Knock it off, make it cheap, stack it high.

It's been an on-going joke that Apple more or less dictates the look and feel of PCs 5-6 years in advance. I believe the official stance is that so long as nothing is actively being infringed upon, they don't care, as by the time the PC world releases a Mac knockoff, they're on to the next thing already.
