You could always upgrade the ram, I would go for the MBP.

Ashok: you know, now that I think about it, I'd get the older MBP. I have the 15" version with 2.4ghz processor, matte screen, and multi-touch pad - it rocks! I don't have a single complaint about it. I paid $1799 for it roughly one year ago, the prices now make it a steal.

The MBP is the one with the upgraded ram.

M5-- I think I'm sold on the MBP. It just makes more sense. The advantages of the new models don't oversell the advantages on the MBP i can get. Even with the new adamantium core, glass touchpad, etc etc, the old MBP makes more sense.

Absolutely. The new base model MBP would cost you what, $1900 with your student discount? Considering how good the old one is, and the price you can get it at (with Apple Care!), it's a no brainer.

I vote for the new MBP with 4 gigs and Applecare. That was one of the choices, wasn't it?

Ha, so long as you're contributing the other $1500.

Is that what you're using now Russ?

old MBP, hope you get a faulty video card, faulty audo card, faulty top case, and faulty LCD backlight and get a brand new MBP replacement from Applecare.
