Old MBP or new MB?

Is the new MB worth it? I can get a (brand new) Macbook pro, the old style, with applecare and 4gigs through my school for $1500, and the Macbook goes for around that, but only with 2 gigs.

Which would you get? I think the MBP is the better choice, but not sure.

No question about it...I have 2 old MBP's...great but weak in many ways physically to the new design which is really solid and better made.

I love my new MacBook for this reason..

For $1500 the old MBP is a wonderful buy, and it's a great computer. However, it's still a lot of money for an older model. If it were me (and I currently have the MBP), I'd probably get the new MB.

I'd go with the older MBP. Especially if it has the matte screen, but that's personal preference.

You will notice the extra ram if you do intensive graphics work or similar.

I was concerned about the non matte screen on the newer MacBooks..seems crazy to make a gloss screen but for whatever reason....I don't notice any negative difference and supposedly the screens are better on the newer ones...wanna buy my old MBP?

older, matte screen, lots of deals on craigslist just over 1k ish if you're on it...unsealed the box myself on mine back in sept from a local seller. Nothing wrong with the new one, this is just a temp work beater for me for now

It is a matte screen on this one. I think I'm gonna go for this MBP, mainly because it comes with free applecare and the extra 2 gigs.

I misread this thread....I thought you were comparing old MBP to new MacBook..

That's a very different choice...all depends on usage...and screen size you desire...I have several computers so for browsing I prefer the MacBook, for PS, I use MacPro tower with 30" screen.

Basically you really need 3 macs and and iTouch and iPhone...

Mark, I am comparing the old the MBP to the new MB. I use PS often, but not for photo processing---for front end designs primarily. But the bulk of my computer use is in reason (music editing, recording), firefox, movie watching and MS office. I've realized that even with 2 gigs, I'm not getting the speed I need, mainly because of firefox because i have multiple (excess of 10) windows open at a time. So I think the MBP is the better choice. Plus they're throwing in applecare.
