I'm pretty excited. My new Macbook arrived via Fedex this morning. I can't wait to open it up tonight. I did puss out on the MBP though.

 

Hope you got the one with the lit keyboard? Don't open it if you didn't!

its the only thing holding me back at this point.

 

Screen is great! It's not that reflective..Loving this new laptop..I have had pretty much all the models from Apple, these new ones are huge improvements in build quality and 'feel', not to mention performance.

 

Okay...

1. I find the whole Apple smugness and clever hipness a bit cloying.
2. The Apple Store drones bother me every time I walk in the store.
3. The fact that the Apple Store techs call themselves "Geniuses" just grates on me.

But, this new Macbook is INCREDIBLE. The whole design of this laptop from the unibody aluminum to the backlit keyboard (Thanks Mark for the heads up) to the trackpad with multifinger gestures is...gag, choke, splutter...genius.

 

It's pretty nice. It's not nearly as reflective as my old HP glossy screen. Although I am not as annoyed as many with glossy screens, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a new MB or MBP because of the screen.

 

The new MB and MBP are only available in glossy screen, correct?

 

Hard to believe, since all of the above applies to the Obama faithful as well . . .

I'm pretty sure the answer is "yes." I certainly didn't have an option of a matte screen when specing the MB at the Apple Educational Store on line.
