Inside Info ? Well maybe not but interesting on PDK ;)

Astonished
I'm astonished at the early responses to the PDK. More 'standard' paddles would have been nicer but one can get used to buttons as quickly as the paddles. Regarding performance and driving pleasure, I drove a Ferrari F430 F1 for the better part of a day and couldn't wipe the grin off my face. Still can't every time I recall the experience.
It really seemed like the best of both - the fine level of control and direct connection of a manual, with the simplicity of an automatic (and the option of an actual automatic), and the gearchange speed greater than either coupled with the ability to focus on the finer points of driving.
I'm very happy with my 2005 997S, but when I upgrade, I'll be sure to get the PDK.
I certainly accept that personal preference is why we each drive these cars. Surely we don't NEED them. But I predict that more than 50% of all Porsche sports cars will have PDK in two years. And that number will continue to grow.
Porsche greater problem will be how to compete with the R8...
