It should not have been CPO. No more than 2 body panels can be painted to qualify for CPO. You may have something.

I knew there had to be some attorneys out there! As I stated, all is well on the settlement side, just trying to ascertain value of depreciation....

Good luck in your case. From what I have heard, depreciated value is very hard to prove.

As an aside, I can also chime in and say that Carfax is junk. Every used car I have bought has had a clean Carfax and paintwork.

.MY QUESTION IS can anyone help me determine a value or the "depreciation" value that could occur for these damages/repairs. Thanks in advance.
You mentioned that you will be burned on trade in price so I assume what you want is to determine a current trade in value on a new car now with your accident repaired vehicle compared to the trade in value that would be offered on the same vehicle absent any accident repairs.

IF it was my car this is what I would do:

1. Take the car to a couple of porsche dealers in your State and get a current trade in value on a new car of similar spec as your current car. They should both pick up the repair damage and both should offer about the same TI price which is a wholesale price.
Get these in writing.

2. Locate a reputable independent car valuer and pay for a current dealer wholesale (ie trade in )valuation on 2 bases:
A. Car in current condition (This should be close to dealer TI prices)
B Same used car if was in an original undamaged/unrepaired condition - which should be a higher price.

The difference between the valuer's wholesale prices is what you have lost in current/present wholesale value of the vehicle as a result of the accident damage that you were not advised of (but which, by the way, you could have had easily picked up with a professional inspection). If you were going to court you would need more than one independent valuer's report. Valuations are also very time sensitive and it is no use tendering valuations that are not current.

Good luck with it. Don't go crazy with this and end up paying more in legal and other costs than you are losing in additional depreciated value of the car due to the accident repairs.

+1. It's a violation of CPO. If it is CPO, contact Porsche USA in Atlanta. Watch the fun begin.

Hmm, tricky situation. Did you see an Auto check report on it yet?

My initial reaction is- if the carfax is "clean", that is what will effect the majority's opinion of the market value of the car. I'm sure we all have seen cars get paintwork without it being on the carfax report. ( I had a car repaired from damage though insurance, at a body shop- and it never showed on carfax) Yes- Porsche vehicles are different, but it is also very hard to find any pre owned vehicles that have not had some paitn work somewhere. (especially one at a car dealership- they all fix bumpers and such and have crews going by weekly to do quick fixes)

On the car fax report- Kiss of death on a Porsche, not on it? Up to the buyers to see and determine

Want to know the "potential" difference? Sean880 has the right idea. Good luck

There is no guarantee buying new. I have seen enough "fixed character marks" from careless transportation on the dealers lot...My buddy works at a Audi dealership and it happens all the time and never disclosed..
