As the world turns.... the life of a 991..
#13
they would never only allow PDK on GT3, not going to happen anytime soon....but the 991GT coming out in march w/ tons of HP... lighter (standard 991 is 100kilo's lighter.. imagine how much lighter the GT version will be!).. we're talking 465hp in a 3000lb car!!!!...
wait for the 991GT.. cause imo the 997.2 GT will be old news when the 991 comes out.. remember 997 is a 8 year old design right now.

....
1.the 991 is not 100KG lighter - even Porsche doesnt say that
2. tons of HP: if you consider 450HP as tons of HP..compared to 435HP...strange way of counting
3. Whether 997 GT2 - GT3 will be old news - will not be decided by you but by independent sources...
4. 8 year old design - correct - but in car design/manufacturing gains are always becoming smaller and smaller..gaining additional weight will become more and more expensive...like it will become more and more difficult to make an already very fast car even faster..

Complete BS.

2: the new GT3 non RS is to be 465HP... which coupled with the weight loss and PDK trans should yield 997.2 TT results.. the PDK is what will bring the times down..
3: when did i ever say i was the master of the universe
4: seem's like you just like to argue... the previous cars were fast but their times suffered because of the manual trans... the same way the 997.2TT had it's times flipped upside down with the addition of PDK in 2010, the GT3 will do the same... everything will get quicker (to an extent).. i assume 2.8second 0-60 (versus the 997.2TT at 2.7)

Ariel Atom in Novem (it's being built now)
i hope it works out for you.
actually only had the 991 for 3 months... I ordered it because I wanted the next "911"... I sold it because while it's a great car it's design was changed more towards daily driving versus a true sports car... the GT model will rectify that issue..

why not, he drove the 991 for free for 3 months and 7k miles for FREE. What's not to understand?

Hi rijowsock,
1. dont want to argue here or make this thread miserable - but your numbers are complete...Porshce said that it roughly saved 35KG..anything else is simply wrong. Sport Auto in Germany - whos tests are even known in Australia and all over the world - weighted the car and it was even 40KG heavier then the 997.2.
2. Yes, the 997 turbo is fast..but not really faster then a manual GT3..only on straight lines..
3. PDK - yes it can bring down times..but dont forget that it weighs 35KG more than a manual gearbox - on average: more weight = less fast
I dont like to argue at all...but we are a Porsche thread here...and your words/tone sound a bit like if all Porsches are a piece of ... coupled with wrong information.
But anyway, I agree with you that the "GT variant will (must) rectify this issue

2/3: dont care
you do like to argue, have you owned 997.1/997.2/991 and brought them to same shop and actually noticed differences and then read and quoted exact numbers as per porsche?... if i stated my weigh difference that would be "non exact" as fluid levels/options changed the diff.. so i quoted porsche.
my 997.2 was around 3285lbs for C2 Coupe
991 was around 3150lbs for my C2 coupe w sunroof delete.
