So long Carrera GTS!

Finally pulled the trigger on a Carrera 4 GTS, put the order, signed the contract and paid a deposit, only to find out three days later that Porsche decided to stop the production of the 4 GTS!!

How can Porsche do that! After saying that it will accept the order it turns around and decides not honor it. That is really so unlike any Porsche ethics that I have encountered

It's not crazy. You can't wait until they end production on the 997 and then expect to order a car. The 991 C4S will be out next year, so of course production is done. Go try to order an M3 sedan - oh, no luck! Same shit... If you really want a C4 GTS, there are plenty in dealer stock.

But Chris, wouldn't they have told him BEFORE he ordered it, signed the papers and put down a deposit?

It's very likely the dealer didn't have production cut-off dates. It's happened to me before for certain options, etc. It happens. Otherwise, I'd go order a 993 Carrera tomorrow...

Does that mean ALL 997 production is officially halted? I'd like to see what the last 997 to roll of the line looks like (or will look like).

Yeah, might be a little disappointing, but I'd suspect the dealer wasn't aware of the production cut-off dates. I noticed last week that the GTS (rwd) wasn't available to configure online anymore, but the 4 GTS was. Something tells me the 4 GTS will be disappearing pretty soon as well. The GT3 versions and GT2 RS have been gone for some time.

Unless you had some special options ordered (interior combos, paint-to-sample), have your dealer do a search. There are a TON of 4 GTS' available nationwide. You can even go to the extent of searching on PorscheDealer.com yourself and see what you find. Those cars will have some pretty good discounts!!!
