You guys DO realize that its Electo-Mechanical, right?
It's not a fully electronic steering, it's still connected to the front wheels.
If any of you have lengthy experience on the 997mkI cars and remember the steering feel change ont the 997mkII cars- it's like that- another refinement to the steering.
Anyone who complains about the steering feel on a 991 must just crash every other BMW M or Mercedes AMG- everytime they get in the car.
Oh, that's right, they don't. Hmmph. 'Magin that! Shocking!!
Play on playa

My GT2 would have both the radio & air conditioning delete, but I also understand that if Porsche were to have a steering assist delete, they would probably charge more for it.

It weights approximately the same as the hydraulic unit, so that argument isn't valid.
Luxury cars are luxury cars and sports cars are sports cars...
AND that's why they make the GT cars, for folks like you. But unfortunately, just selling the GT cars doesn't pay the bills nor do most buyers WANT that GT experience.
lol goof ball.

I associate sarcasm like those old 'dinosour eggs' when I was growing up. PAIN in the ass to deal with but OHHH so good when appreciated.
The gift that keeps on giving. Like your Mom.
LMAO!!!! jk!!!!! jk!! lol

Couldnt agree more..by the way, Mclaren uses a more conventional system, many other sports too, plus also F1 etc...so Porsche is a bit left alone here with its new system. Yes, grand daddy cars like BMW, Merc etc also use it - but Porsche had the best system on the market (acknowledged by everybody) - Period. Now, the have gone from being a market leader to a somehow mediocre participant in the market. They are no longer the best - just drive the Mclaren and you´ll see. If someone now tells me that its good to become second in life and that Porsche should be proud of this then some peoople havent understood the basics of our 21st century world..

all the best,

My point was that on a pure sports car why have any assist, hydraulic or otherwise?
And yes, I fully understand that those GT cars probably would not exist if it wasn't for the other cars Porsche makes...

Just test drove an S today myself.
Car seems very well built. This thing seems more solid. Very refined and upscale compared to the older models. No doubt it's become more of "less" nervous experience compared to the 997s. It's less on edge. In this regards Porsche nailed it perfectly.
I for one liked the steering feel, and wouldn't say that its necessarily better or worse compared to the 997. It's just that with the direction that Porsche wanted to take with the 991, it fits the character of the car just right. I couldn't imagine a car this "nice" and "luxurious" to have twitchy or sensitive steering as per the old 997s.
Downside of it is that I personally do not care to pay $110K for the car I drove. As nice as it is, it is a Carrera S and it's hard to believe these things are well into the $100Ks now. Hell I remember when I bought my 996 in 2000, you could actually get a Carrera in the $70s~$80s.
But one thing I am sure of, when the turbo and GT variants hit, those will be one hell of ride.

You guys are hilarious. If it wasn't for Porsche people I seriously would not be nearly as entertained during the day. I'd have to surf all the Ducati forums and listen to all THOSE guy piss and moan how the 848 Evo dilutes the brand, and make fun of the squids.

I was actually going to mention something about the hydraulic unit & all the plumbing in my last response, but I figured you'd give me some credit for being smarter than that. Thanks.

WHAT do you consider a PURE sports car? What's your definition of one?
