That's because it's intentionally getting slightly longer and wider but shorter, with a longer wheelbase, even less like the original 911 platform, more and more like a 'Vette or Ferrari, unfortunately.

The rear on the camo'ed blue model in the last few pics looks slightly "naked" partly because it's debadged. For me, the "modern" 911 body is slightly less distinctive looking compared to the harder lines of the original 911 up through the 993, as they raked the windshield and made the car larger.

I'm still in love with the older body styles, especially the 964 and 993, but I own a 996 and I do like the 997, so I'm sure I will like (but not really love) the 991 overall shape. But I still don't like the fact it keeps getting larger....

+1. I'm really liking the shorter overhangs for one. It gives the car a more sporting look. My primary hope is we are offered a sunroof delete option here in the US!

Those of us who are unbiased against the 991 one way or the other us will just have to look past the negativity that will be inevitable from some current 997 owners as they are the majority on this forum. Such is the way of the world when a new generation comes out.

 

You nailed it Wild-Speed. Why don't you like the black exhaust frame (or diffuser) though?

 

The one with the RS 4.0 in the background truly kills the new 991... it shows how beautiful and superior the design of the current model is.
