Autobild is now mentioning a new style for the Targa models, as a throw back to the original Targa.

It makes sense because the new Carrera coupe models now get an optional glass roof, so that wouldn't leave the Targa room for sales. So apparently, Porsche will reintroduce the "safety cabriolet" style to increase Targa sales, and make the model more exciting. I love it a lot, and even more reason to be excited about the 991! Here is the latest rendering from Larson.

^^ I LOVE THAT!!! I love the RUF models which have the aluminium targa b-pillar like in the pic below but this looks even better. Beautiful!!!

P.S. the thing you said about the optional glass roof is still just your rumour right?

I'm so glad they're bringing back the classic Targa style! It's so much more interesting than the current configuration, and I bet sales will dramatically increase for the Targa model. I've only ever seen one 997.2 Targa. I hope the 991 Targa comes in RWD!

I feel the same way Chris. Basically do a GT3 RS, with a Carrera engine and bodywork (though slightly altered), and call it the Carrera R.

Put me down for one of those please.

It's fun sharing theories and ideas about what's to come with new car models. Basically that is what this whole thread is about. However, when you start spreading a theory of your own as though it were a fact, like you have been doing in regard to the glass roof, it confuses a lot of people. Fact is, noone knows for sure. You might even be right about it. But stop stating your own theories as if it was confirmed information please.
