996 to 996 RS ALMS Clone... build pics
Here are a few pictures of a project in progress we have been working on for a client from Arkansas.
Car was shipped to GMG and we are building a RS clone from a 99 -996.
The goal was to build a fun reliable track car that could hang with GT3's.
Just goes to show with some careful planning a 996 can have a very fun and fast second life.
Enjoy!
I will post more pics as we continue on the project for now enjoy.
Genuine Porsche Motorsport body parts installed - no cage yet.

At our paint shop with cage installed and roof panel removed.
Ready to have the interior sprayed:

In the booth ready for paint- new roof panel installed NON SUNROOF.

Painted and CUP car style cage installed- cage was fabricated in house at GMG.

After paint awaiting more work.

Very cool..
Is the price of older 996's such as this one cheap enough to make this build cost effective compared to buying a older Gt3? I've always thought it would be awesome to get a 996 C2s and build for a fun well balanced street car that would be comparable to a newer Gt3.
