2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S Vs 2012 Nissan GT-R

I'd imagine that most of those posting in the Porsche forums are Porsche enthusiasts, I would rather have a 911 than a GT-R myself. However, those claiming that the Nissan doesn't have heritage are quite mistaken; the Skyline has quite an impressive racing history.
Sure, Nissan doesn't have the ability to focus on quite as many niceties in the GT-R as Porsche does with the 911 Turbo S, but that is simply because of the price point of the GT-R. I highly doubt I would be disappointed with the GT-R as a driver's car (as that's what it seems to be), none of the reviewers are.

Those of you saying "It's still a Nissan." Would you take a C2S over a GTR?

I think it's about time we stop this pissing contest between the GT-R and a Porsche. They are both amazing cars, and each unique on their own merits.
I'll take a Red GT-R please.

One of the stupidest TS threads ever. Everybody is getting their panties in a bunch trying to make stupid points to "prove their car is better". If you like the GT-R cool, it's an impressive car and you get a lot for your money, if you like the 911, that's cool too. You get one of the best all around performers, and it comes with more soul and passion than it's small chassis can contain.
BTW STLG, yes, I would rather have a C2S over a GT-R (993, or 997).

Fifth Gear has compared two high-power vehicles – 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S and 2012 Nissan GT-R on various criteria. The performance of both these cars is not really much different from each other. 2012 Nissan GT-R produces 530 horsepower, and so does 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S. While the former reaches 0 to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds, the latter takes about 3.3 to cover the same distance. So, with only a tiny difference in the output, the real winner is the one that provides better handling, aerodynamics and weight control.

A Swatch gives the time just as well as a Rolex...there is something for everyone.
Technology evolutions are such that as time goes by more and more car brands will converge towards similar performances. Reliability is something else.
cars like GTR is great as it democratises to a certain extent performance cars and that is awesome for sure. Am a Porsche guy though!
