NISSAN NV200 SELECTED AS NEW YORK CITY'S "TAXI OF TOMORROW"

- Nissan chosen as exclusive provider of NYC taxi fleet –

New York is "hailing" a new era of urban mobility today, as the city with the nation's largest taxi fleet has selected Nissan to design and supply the next-generation "Taxi of Tomorrow." The announcements were made today during a City Hall press briefing that included Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Nissan Americas Chairman Carlos Tavares.

Now we can all ride in the GTR when it also may become a future NYC taxi cab. At least you won't be late for work.

Wow surprised they did not stick with a domestic manufacturer.

Tiff was some sort of racing driver before right?

Why did he allow Plato the inside corner so much? I don't know a whole lot about racing but that seems rather odd if you're in it to win it

I noticed that too. If you watched around the 5:20 mark, Tiff was so far on the outside of the corner that he came within a couple feet of hitting what looked like a camera man.

Now, when it comes down to which I'd rather have in the garage, it'd be the Porsche. Nothing wrong with the GTR but it just doesn't speak to me the way the Turbo S does.

^Probably just making the "race" closer. I'm sure the Turbo S is faster around some tracks.

I think that's just because it's a TV show. The methodology of the Fifth Gear comparos leaves a lot to be desired.

Make no mistake. I'd love to own a GT-R- however if it's my one special car- it's gonna be a 911.

Period.

I'd imagine that most of those posting in the Porsche forums are Porsche enthusiasts, I would rather have a 911 than a GT-R myself. However, those claiming that the Nissan doesn't have heritage are quite mistaken; the Skyline has quite an impressive racing history.

Sure, Nissan doesn't have the ability to focus on quite as many niceties in the GT-R as Porsche does with the 911 Turbo S, but that is simply because of the price point of the GT-R. I highly doubt I would be disappointed with the GT-R as a driver's car (as that's what it seems to be), none of the reviewers are.
