I know guys that rip to shreds MUCH more expensive cars. it's just personal taste....

But dont take his comments personal Sean. It is, as they say, what it is.

Gentlemen -

No need for such hostility - I dont mind some friendly kidding around or teasing - and if you think I'm a moron, that's ok too.

Some things about me:
1. I work really hard for my money
2. Making the decision to purchase a cab vs. coupe was one of the more difficult purchase decisions of my life.

While my question might be trivial and may have been written incorrectly - i believe there is some validity to what my original question was/is.

MAybe I should have written - if its raining out, would you choose to drive a turbo cab, or take another car in the garage.

I was looking forward to driving my car this morning and waking up to the worst rain this summer was disappointing - so, I thought I'd put a post up here to lighten my mood.

What a mistake.

Some of you guys are funny - some of you are a$$h@les.

To me, the Porsche is a very expensive and intricate automobile. To you, it might be a throwaway toy car. You might be an oil barron or burger flipper - I dont know - that's what makes the forums interesting.

I ordered my car,, waited almost 6 months for it, paid cash for it, and have a lot of love and respect for it.

If that bothers you, I'm sorry.

My intention of the original question was not - really will my car get hurt - but more of - would you CHOOSE to drive it in the rain.

There are the 13 year old kids on this forum and then there are the tough guys and everyone in between. To a few of you who have reached out - Stoppie for one - thank you - I truly appreciate this community and having a "forum" like this to visit and gain insight and knowledge etc, while having some fun is welcomed.

I get the sense that many here dont really know what its like to own one of these cars and repair one of these cars.

I'm just coming out of a two and a half year stint with Ferrari - what a nightmare. Service, parts, wheels, tires, gas - you name it - it was a complete love hate relationship where I wound up never wanting to take the car anywhere in fear of something "happening" -

How many of you can understand what that is like?

So, I came back to Porsche - reliable, low cost of ownership etc etc.... Excuse me if I still have some sensitivity to the true fragility of these cars. While Porsche is bulletproof - I'm glad I'm cautious - maybe one of you guys will thank me when you buy my car in 6 months. You'll know it was babied.

If you know the weather is going to improve, Drive your car another day, if you have another car to drive in its place.

Unless you live where the weather sucks almost everyday than drive it and enjoy it.

Yes, many of us here can attest to owning expensive cars. But I don't see any hostility? We're all friends here and we communicate accordingly. It's just the Teamspeed way of saying "By all means, do it!". But you're gonna need thicker skin - it's the Internet!

And how boring it is to let the weather dictate how you drive your car. I've been sitting in my race-spec caged RS in the south of France in the middle of summer sans air conditioning ... and although that was more painful to me than the car, I would much rather take a Turbo Cab through a monsoon that has been tested down to -80 degrees in ice storms before it's released to the public. Not even the 70s Ford Escort cabriolets had any leakage - the roof on a convertible is there for when it is raining.

Now post some pics of that beaut!

^^ Welcome here. I haven't been here for too long, but some people take things seriously some don't. I understand how you thought it was hostility, but once you get to know the guys better here, you will realize that they joke a lot and half the things they say are jokes. Better to learn now then never. I learned late, and am regretting it, but I learned my lesson, and got to know the people here. If you take something seriously, it will get serious, if you laugh it off, no one will care.

As for your car, what's the color combo?

Also, when's the last time you've seen a fire on a Porsche engine? These cars a very reliable.

asg I think you are being far too sensitive and if anyone has made asshole comments in this thread it's you. Take a step back and realize that anything you are getting butthurt over was probably just friendly banter.

There are plenty of people on this forum that know EXACTLY what its like to own a car like this and even more that would probably choose to take their Turbo Cab in bad weather over some of their other cars. Get off your high horse. You are coming across as condescending. These cars are meant to be driven. Do you not sleep with your wife so you can save her for the next guy? Get out there and drive the damn thing! Tomorrow may never come.
