I went for R8 v8 a while ago. R8 was so great that I find it too boring.

When you go slow, it is like you are in the sedan, comfortable and relaxed.

If you gun it, R8 will give you 70% of F430 with ease.

However, this 2 cars in one character is what makes it so boring.

Too much precision and lack of super car feel can make you disappointed too fast.

I bought 997.2 turbo pdk without trying R8 v10. 911 has so much more personality.

In terms of what Audi is doing, they might advertise R8 as reliable super fast car compared to Lambo and ferrari, and also with mid engine, R8 is better than 911. Wrong. 911 has fun factor. Ferrari and Lambo has its own character and passion.

This is what I think about R8.

R8 is just stopping point between cayman(or other mid engine cars) and supercar.

Audi captures those middle buyers who otherwise went for 911 turbo.

People will be happy they have options.

But R8 will never ever give you the feeling of Italian cars even though buyers will think they came close of having one without having one. My conclusion is skip R8 and save more.
