cue the excuses

guy didn't know how to drive a 911
journalists are biased towards Nissan
GTR wasn't stock
its still a datsun
it looks like crap
it'll never be a Porsche
wait til the tranny breaks
it won't last more than a few laps on track
its numb and unexciting
etc etc etc

i love Porsche. and yes i'd rather have a 911 Turbo over the GTR. but anyone that can't give this car its due is on some heady stuff IMO.

/rant off

P.S. yes, have driven both

you just hit him with some knowledge.... as far as my rant.... gtr is a shit box, been at a number of track days with them, my 964 rsa bends them over a pinball machine, they're ugly as shit imo, its a nissan.... as far as the r8.... why on gods green earth did they ever approve that for production.... much like a turbo cab is a boxster grande, its just a tt grande lol... besides the fact it should push 600hp and weigh less then 7000lbs... and yes they are also roadblocks at open track days....

SoCal is an unknown quantity at this point
Same here. Porsche TT's would kill both of those stock. And make the drive home after...

I love the 911 Turbo, but the GT-R has proven to be the faster car on so many different race tracks

Journalists are biased to Nissan are they?
How do you know the GT-R was not stock?
It is a Nissan not a datsun
Porsche is owned by VW so does that make it a VW Golf?
The Porsche looks like a squished VW Beetle with a wing on the back
True i would prefer a Porsche to a Nissan
In Australia the 911 Turbo is 3 times as much as the nissan
I would prefer the GT-R and a nice 2nd hand Lamborghini Gallardo all for the same price!

Just my personal views

Umm... he did just finish up that comparison saying "with a proper flappy paddle gearbox". I am pretty sure that is the first time I have ever heard that.

I was thinking that too, seems like every other journalist prefers manual even though I'm sure secretely they all know that a dual-clutch with paddles is faster. I think this guy is just the first to admit it.
Also first time I hear someone complain about the R8's breaks but I guess we'll have to take his word for it.

Anyway I'm not surprised but this is really beginning to get really embarassing for Porsche. Even more expensive and powerfull than 997.1 Turbo and still it can't reach the GTR. Nissan reallt hit a homerun with this car, I don't see how anyone can deny that anymore...

Chris's upcoming full test of the RS hopefully will make up for this!
