Your post is offside.

Spencer posted to warm peeps about Canepa and to elicit further info relative to the car and its history.

I'd do the same.

Whoa. . .the thread's now been merged.

Prior to the merge, there was no mention of the dealer (thus, it did not appear he was warning people about him).

I hope justice prevails.

I'm surprised.
Isn't it the same Canepa Design who federalizes Porsche 959s?
Surprising.

Thanks for the headsup Spencer, these types of practices and dealers need to be exposed....I appreciate you doing this and know that you have given the dealer every opportunity to correct this to no avail. I'm sure the legal process will get his attention.

Agreed. I've followed NYC123 for quite some time. Im sure its partly feeling cheated and lashing back and partly a desire to ensure noone else befalls the guys scumbaggery.

I say post it everywhere as often as possible. scum like that don't' deserve any protections whatsoever. i hope the guy rots on his inventory.

I read some place else as well that he had no money left and the bank froze his credit line. thats usually a sign of bad things to come.

No one should buy nothing from that guy unless you have a bag of cash to give in exchange for the car and title contemporaneous.

This is a common misconception. Canepa Design is not authorized to federalize 959s.

Sorry to hear about your screwed up purchase. A fun experience turning into a nightmare.
I hope you'll get a quick refund. But if it doesn't look that way, and although you won't feel like doing business with this dealership at all, the next best option might be to pick up another car from that dealer and have it PPI'd thoroughly.
I'm not talking about the F40, but that '97 Turbo S wouldn't be a bad one if you had to... something to think about.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Well since we are talking about him now, I will say that I have held Canepa in questionable character since he began taking credit for being the first to import a 959 for street legal use under the Show & Display category. The truth is the Canepa had nothing to do with Show & Display, and in fact John Dixon was the first. I know this to be true because I have personally met Mr. Dixon, went to school with his two daughters (in fact two of my good friends married them), and even worked on some of Mr. Dixon's cars many years ago.

Here is the letter clearing up the 959 story:
Interesting information on the 959 in the US - Rennlist Discussion Forums

If you are wondering who John Dixon is, here is his museum:
The Taj Ma Garaj Automotively Chic Banquet Facilities
And by "his" museum, I mean it was built with his dollars and filled with his amazing extensive collection of over 40 Porsches and ridiculous amounts of memorabilia.
