A coupe wouldn't last more than a couple of months with you Eric! You've always were a Cab guy so forget the Coupe and go for what you really want.

I don't like cabs becuase driving with the top down makes you look like a total douche.

I like cabs because they are usually prettier than the coupé variant.

I would get a coupé.

I might look like a douche with the top doiwn, but on a nice day, who gives a fxxxxx? I drive it for me. Also to all the budding Schumacher's out there, let me know when your skill level gets to the point that the only reason you can't go faster is because the 911TT cab, has too little rigidity. Cmon, there are probably only a few very small percentage of drivers in the world whose skills are such that the coupe will provide significant gains in such a way that it actually matters.

Live in an area where crime might be an issue get a coupe, otherwise get the cab, top down is awesome.

flame suit on, just my own opinion anyway.

Also cab has way more headroom top up or down.

Eric , I had a few cabs(not Porsches)and I love to drive with the top down but also got tired of interior getting dirty so much quicker. So I got out of cabs into coupes. Love how stiff a coupe is and the extra room. Being it's been about 10 years since a cab, I would consider one again. For me, I like both, but get tired of one or the other after awhile.. You need to decide how much of a cab guy you are...

Let me try to clarify a few things.

I am a cab guy, but not a diehard. I think I can live with a coupe, and won't miss it too much. The few trips to the mtns with my son and the top down are great memories. But a turbo, well, that's a great next step.

So here is my dilemma. To order a '10 model, IF there should be one, IF the engine block is still GT1, if, if , if pricing is still rational - can that be? - then I'd end up spending insane money. Really insane.

I'm trying to get into one of these '09's for under 140, a highly optioned, with ceramics, good bit of leather, etc...for around 130 would be stellar.

I've been on all the dealer sites, all the car sites, all the 'for sale' sites, and have found handfuls of low optioned cars I would not waste money on. I've seen white, black, silver, grey, etc.

I found ONE new Guards Coupe, loaded like I would have ordered it (or nearly), with a sticker in the high 150's. They are negotiable, but only to a point. There are some reasons why a new one could price out better than used, but I won't get into that right now. Suffice it to say, we're about 10k apart after days of discussion.

I found ONE Black Cab, loaded the same, with a few miles on it. They are stuck on a number and can't seem to budge, and it would be 18k more than I'd want to spend.

I'm also well aware of the auction prices, not that it is so relevant, but back of my mind, I'd be foolish not to think of what this car would be worth a month after I owned it. I also have dealer information from well placed sources who have provided me with actual to-the-penny dealer cost. So I do want to be fair to any seller that they make a profit and provide a great deal at the same time.

That said, my dilemma is this: if I want one NOW, and want it optioned the way I'd like it, I have two cars on the ground:
New Coupe, Guards Red (my favorite color) 10k over my number, not a cab.
Lightly used Cab, Black (not sure I'd really love Black), 18k or so over my number.
Neither one is close enough for me to see it right now.

Therewith the dilemma.

Toss this into the mix: the '04 Cab I've got is perfect. No reason to sell other than it's time in the next few months to move on up. Warranty is good through May '10 and I've owned it since new. I could wait it out, get less for it in 6 months, and see what '10 brings. There's a chance that the '10's won't carry any incentive or pricing 'deals' like we're seeing right now. It's a helluva time to buy, if you find what you want, at the right price.

I can't see being without a p-car in the garage. And I can't see paying inflated list prices either.

So yes, I'm a bit anxious, and I'd love to get into a new one loaded up and at a very special price. Or I can wait it out, maybe find a lightly used Guards Cab in a few months, and take my chances.

I just shake my head at all of this 'cause it is frustrating!

Eric, I have had both. I love the looks and lines of a coupe, but I love an open car as well. If you are buying for the esthetics, nothing beats a coupe. If you love having the top down as I do, go for the cab. If you want a track car (which you have stated is not likely) go for the coupe. My track time is spent in a race car. My TT cab is for the street and I love it. I had a 996 TT cab and now have a 997 TT cab. It is fantastic!

You're not a flipper. Don't settle, you'll only regret it.

Just when I thought it was safe to get back in the water....

Made an offer on the coupe, no reply. Yeah, it was low, but not in their pants. Still, odd not to get at least a 'no' answer if anything. Maybe tomorrow.

So I'm about to blow this all off and just run back into the man-cave, and a damn loaded (I mean freaking loaded) triple black cab shows up somewhere. Sheesh. Why didn't anyone order Guards for cryin' out loud?

But this seller is more motivated and more reasonable than others I've spoken with.....

But again, black car = heavy medication

Just not sure now. Need a drink

I think it's easier for coupe guys - they get the performance, the price, the looks, and the car they really want.
It's the cab guys (like myself) who have to weigh different priorities. Yes the cabs aren't as pretty, yes the cabs weigh more and flex, yes they cost more, etc etc..
But ya know what? They are fun as hell (you either love them or you dont) and that top down feeling on a warm summer night is f*cking priceless!!!!
