Post McLaren vs Ferrari

McLaren vs Ferrari
Auto Express pits the 2011 McLaren’ MP4-12C vs. Ferrari’s 458 Italia.
The gloves are off in the supercar shootout of 2011, as two of the biggest names in Formula One go toe-to-toe in a battle for fast car honours. In the white corner is our challenger. All the way from Woking, and weighing in at 1,434kg with 592bhp, it’s the all-new McLaren MP4-12C. It will be the first in a range of sports cars from the legendary racing team, so its success is vital.

In the red corner, from Maranello in Italy, is our reigning Performance Car of the Year. The Ferrari 458 Italia marked a long-awaited return to form for the famous brand last year, and tips the scales at 1,485kg. It looks to be at a disadvantage here as its normally aspirated 4.5-litre V8 produces 562bhp , which is no match for its turbocharged rival on paper.

The British built machine boasts a raft of hi-tech features that are designed to give it the edge. They include a race-inspired carbon fibre chassis to save weight, an Airbrake to enhance stopping power and stability, and an innovative suspension system that claims to deliver comfort and control in equal measure.

OrangeOpti is an unknown quantity at this point
Both cars are absolutely stunning. I prefer the looks of the Mp4-12C due to the back and the rather simple looks. Furthermore, the scissor doors are just spectacular. The 458 has all the technical power and pedigree that comes with Ferrari. Naturally, we all know that the Ferrari is going to sell more, plainly because the rich non-petrolheads are only aware of the existence of Ferrari. I really think it will be a matter of opinion though. Some people think the MP4-12C is ugly, others aren't so much a fan of the 458 headlights. On technical terms, it looks like the MP4-12C has the upper hand, but we all know that The Ferrari has some amazing computers keepong it between the lines.

Personally, I would go for the McLaren, plainly cuz it's British and picking a Ferrari would be too cliché. (Not that I can buy, or drive, a car for that matter.)

Never though I would place these two words in one sentence but.... I would go for the Ferrari due to reliability

based on looks alone, the Ferrari wins hands down.

Love both cars. The back of the McLaren reminds me of the Acura NSX.

I would ditch both and only look at a GT2RS.

I agree with MeanMachine. These two cars are amazing but they don't get me excited.
