458 initial impressions

Unfortunately Cleveland has had record amounts of rain in April and may and I have had no chance to drive my 458 until today. I am absolutely amazed at how easy and comfortable it is to drive. The 599 GTB is supposed to be the ultimate grand touring car made for long drives. I have to say that the 458 is a better grand touring car. In addition, the steering is so precise and accurate that i think it is going to be a blast on a road course. I think Ferrari really hit the mark with the 458. It is a true daily driver and just as easy and comfortable to drive as a 911 turbo, maybe even easier. What makes it so special versus anything else is the incredible noises it makes. When you run through the gears, there is nothing that sounds better. Then, when you hit the brakes hard to slow down, it downshifts perfectly and you feel like Michael schumacher. I just can't say enough about the 458. It is everything a Ferrari should be. And it is one of the best experiences you will ever have. I can't wait to drive it tomorrow!

Great initial report. Hopefully you continue to post your thoughts on the car as you have the time to log some more miles in it.

If the 458 drives as good as it looks, I'm sure it's nothing short of awesome.

I don't think I've heard a negative thing yet about the 458. Keep on enjoying it.

Having ridden in a 458 and driven a 430 scuderia, I can say that the 458 is by far the more refined automobile but my only tiny gripe with it is that it is almost too clinical whereas the scud is very raw, which I like.

If you want the raw feel, I agree with the scud. But if I had to pick one car to drive, this would be it. It car be used as a daily driver, on a road course, and everything in between. I feel like Ferrari took a chapter from the Germans with the 458. It feels so solid.
