Test drove the 458
#81
Just got back from the dealership, had the 458 italia priced to my configurations and didn't expect to see $93,000 worths of options on the base price.
I've put my name down for the Scuderia version and I am the 4th person on the list for an allocation, if all goes well I will hopefully own a Scuderia version of the 458 and If I cannot rationalise that I'd get a more reasonably optioned Italia.

It is a 50/50 chance, either I get it or don't. I will try my best to get it and control my self when speccing the car, I like details and the whole "spec" thing took 1 hour and 15 minutes, just to go through the options list.

Forgot to mention that I had a nice chat with the salesman very very knowledgeable and down to earth. I was really expecting some of the Porsche snobbery(local dealership known to have stuck up salespeople) but I left very happy.
Also a nice thing is that they do track events for customers(Bahrain track and Yas Abudhabi) and it gives you the impression that it is somewhat a exclusive club compared to Porsche which is basically has a car for every single person out there. They annually ship customers car to the tracks for some Pilota Corsa events with instructors and so on.
johnsgt if your reading this, your scud combination is crazy and specifically the interior; that is what I have in mind.

it seems italy has banned my current italia configuration, maybe it was too much?! too tasteless??
i dont know, but u cant do it any more.
be very careful when doing an all rosso interior, u need to have some strong contrasts like bright colors and dark mixes in between. a friend tried to copy me and was disasterous, he went with red stiching no carbon..... i will show u a picture next week.
i only have the rear sensors, but sort of regret i didnt get the front ones, because the fronts are hard to gauge, but probably wouldnt again, because i dont like the holes in the front, but the rear ones are a must!
my options came in at $80k so its really too much already, although i like mine, but i would never say its worth it. now, the scud was worth it more and it was about the same money as my 458, but i cant picture myself getting the 458 scud, because i learned my lesson with my scud. it wont be out till 3 years from now and u will get a new 468 a year after that which will blow ur 458 scud away.
.......unless i feel i have money to burn.
my next one will again have a shocking interior, i cant spoil the surprise now.

I really like your cars interior, I want something in Rossa full leather and yellow stitching similar to your 430 Scuderia. I agree with your comments, its too perfect for an exotic. Does your car(458) have front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera and navigation ?
The sensors, rear view camera and navigation are the things I wont order if I do get one(makes you feel too pampered).
How have you ordered your next car ?

lastly Mean, take ur time specing, it took me weeks to reach my final spec.
i kept going back to the dealer to make changes, i dont think u can do it in a couple hours.
best of luck and no matter what u do, u will have an invincible ride!

What I have in mind, more like a plan a, plan b, plan c and plan d.
1)Matte Pearl White exterior with red interior....too gaudy on a Ferrari, more suitable on a different car.
2)TDF with Red interior, I saw a F430 Spider in that combination and I like it.
3)Paint to Sample (Metallic blue sort of like Aqua Blue) with red interior
4)Rosso Corsa with red interior and yellow stitching.
