Mean, saw ur post a few days ago, but dont know how to comment.
i think we are all spoiled, we expect ferraris to fly or go over the moon. i think the media actually killed our expectations, everybody praised it and hyped all over it, i think thats why we were expecting awesomeness before we got in.
for me, the thing that spoiled me was the 430, it was THE CAR ! I couldnt believe they could come up with such an awesome machine the first time i drove it. Then i bought 3 of them....

The 458 is a better car than the 430, it is faster, handles much better, more comfortable, better materials, better, better, better, ........ but it became TOO perfect.... im not saying that perfect is bad, but my 458 is just too good for its own good. I go out in the 458 and always drive like a bat out of hell, always reckless, always on my courage limit, its faster than anything else,........ but.... i dont feel like taking it out because it is too good. It is the best, but somehow i dont have the same feeling and awe when the 430 came out, maybe im spoiled now.

I also dont know why, but i like taking my rattling crap Scud to the local "track", or my yacht riding 612 to work, or the lighting torque monster 599 with its POS understeer to battle backroads.
The 458 is perfect, but driving perfection sometimes lack a little passion.
If i only have ONE car, it definitely is the 458. U need to drive it like u stole it every mile to appreciate it, while u can go at a pedestrian pace in a 612 and realize u arrived.
But compare the 458 to GT2s or LP570s, u know whos the winner.

oh and play with the interior a bit to make it more passionate, that helps trmendously! im already working on my next one, i'll sure to shock u again!

Thumbs up

Johnsgt, may I add that you have been full of great in depth perception in your reviews, it kills me. I am glad you're so passionate about it; the spec'd 458 you have shows it. I tip my hat off you, Sir.

thanks, however, i am totally biased towards ferraris, i loved them since i was 5 and think they can do no wrong!
I waited several months for my 458 to arrive and immediately after i took delivery i sent money for the next one months ago.
Again, when they showed real pictures of the FF last month, i went and inquire about an order, i wanted to be the first in line even though i think it looks pretty bad, but i just know they cant fxxk up, it still must be awesome to drive and be in..... who can see the exterior while sitting in??!!
see im biased.

I think f430 is much more fun to drive. Lot of noise and feels like a F car. My 458 only feels like a Ferrari when i push it above 5k rpm. I think for normal town zipping/cruising, f430 is hands down more fun.
I think I would end up reaching for the same key as well. It goes back to the fact that newer cars have the "raw" element removed from them, no thanks to electronic gadgetry. I mentioned somewhere in this forum before that driving a 360 Modena was way more entertaining to me than a F430. Back-to-basics enthusiasm I guess.

I really like your cars interior, I want something in Rossa full leather and yellow stitching similar to your 430 Scuderia. I agree with your comments, its too perfect for an exotic. Does your car(458) have front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera and navigation ?

The sensors, rear view camera and navigation are the things I wont order if I do get one(makes you feel too pampered).

How have you ordered your next car ?

Not biassed at all, you're just giving the absolute truth. It's something people don't do anymore- care for the passion of the car. They always underrate it because they're too afraid to rate the car of what the potential really is.

Just got back from the dealership, had the 458 italia priced to my configurations and didn't expect to see $93,000 worths of options on the base price.

I've put my name down for the Scuderia version and I am the 4th person on the list for an allocation, if all goes well I will hopefully own a Scuderia version of the 458 and If I cannot rationalise that I'd get a more reasonably optioned Italia.

That's fantastic. Any details about the Scud version as of yet?

No details so far, the 458 spider will be unveiled in September at Frankfurt from what it seems.

By the way the spec of the 458 I mentioned I didnt include any parking sensors or rear view camera and navigation. Has Bucket seats ala Scuderia style and loads of alcantara and carbon fiber.

I am waiting to see how much my configured 458 made to close Scuderia spec would differ from a 458 Scuderia when it comes out.
