Truth or Myth: I cannot walk into a dealership and buy a new 458.

Wishful thinking on my part I guess. We don't have any Ferrari dealerships in MN. I wouldn't know what to expect.

I'm surprised this is still going on. I thought it was just during the F430 cycle when people were using their houses as piggy banks.

It's pathetic really and clients have long memories of who does what and how they treat clients. 2010 you take every single client you can. No one can predict the economic future really- piss enough people off and this doesn't just reflect on the dealer. It reflects the Brand.

Pisses me off to no end when I hear dealers treating people like crap. And embarrassed that I'm in the same profession.

Don't we have Ferrari dealers who are sponsors? Now would be a time to speak up I would think.

This is so true. I was on the 458 bandwagon, and wanted to place an order. The dealer in Dallas wouldn't even e-mail the spec sheet that they promised they would, even after I had come to Dallas to look at a car and meet with them.

The reality is, being in Arkansas, and with no dealer nearby, that I need a great relationship with my dealer. My experience with those guys was such a turnoff, I moved on. It's hard enough to have your car serviced 5 hours away, without dreading the experience as well. I'm sure they're probably good to their customers (hopefully), but I doubt I'll become one.

I will say that the black 458 I saw while I was there was stunning, though.

By contrast, my experience so far with the McLaren dealer in Dallas has been incredible. Very nice, very humble, offered to send a truck for my car in Little Rock whenever it needed service, etc. Talked cars at length with the GM, who is obviously way into his product and the company. And I have had good experiences with the Park Place dealerships in the past, who own the McLaren dealership in Dallas.

I'm still not sure it's the car for me over a 458, but I'm very impressed with how McLaren is starting out here.

Isn't there like a 63 year wait on the 458s?

Isn't there like posts in this thread that clearly dispel that?
