Are the owners not closing their gas cap properly? What are the causes of the fires?

I must've missed the memo that says otherwise, but where I come from... crashes, fires, and any other misfortune that befalls an exotic car...is not newsworthy!

I'd go so far as to request from admin/mods that any picture watermarked by Wrecked Exotics and xposted here be deleted and the user who posts it be given a firm warning not to do it again.

Maybe there's an issue with 458's, maybe there's not. Is it really worth posting every time another one crashes or catches fire?
Disagree. How many 458's have been sold so far? 2-300? If 3 of them burnt down through what appears to be a common (design) fault that is an issue. Imagine the sh*tstorm if 1% of all Toyota Prius' had problems with, say, a stuck accelerator. Oh wait...

If I were in the market for a 458 I'd like to know if the car is prone to exploding.

+2. Shhhh, let's not discuss a possible design flaw in an exotic that causes them to erupt in flames.

Let me clarify, possible OEM issues should by all means be exposed. Crashes and/or other misfortune not related to OEM faults, again IMO, should not be posted for all to see and comment on.

I don't see any issue with this thread. We are talking about a high failure rate that results in fire. The link provided merely has a full account of all wrecks and toasted cars. I have no problem with that link since it supports the topic (fire) of this post.

You guys are too sensitive. I hope Ferrari is looking into the cause of these fires. You would not want anyone burnt. That is a horrible way to go.

Interestingly there's no gas cap on the 458...it's a capless filler system.

Dude stop telling people what they are and are not allowed to do. We have forum rules and they do just fine, if you don't like them that's your problem. Either stop complaining about it or go to another forum.
