Yes it is. For the 2009 - 2010, Ford also installed capless filler system on the new Mustangs. There's been a lot of complain from owners that gasoline would spill out when they are filling their gas tank and it reaches the full level. Thankfully, the engine is at the front...

You make a good point about fuel caps. All new Fords in the UK come with the new capless system, it is a controversial system. I filled up a Focus RS a few weeks ago and usually the fuel filler clicks when its full but it kept going and over flowed. It is a possibility that these 458 Italia's catching fire could have been over filled.

Dude, call me when you wreck your car and I'll send someone to take pictures and blast them all over the web. You're welcome in advance.

Seems very similar to how the 360s were, I remember those catching on fire easily.

What does it matter? Unless the owner of that 458 was making a fraudulent claim that he got rear ended by 2 crackheads in a Pinto rather than caught fire because engine fire falls under force majure on his insurance, and that his insurance company happens to lurk this thread, I don't think his panties are up in a bunch over a side profile shot of his burnt shell.

No overflow problem on the 458...the fuel filler always clicks when it's full.

I believe on the 360 there was an oil or gas line which was located near a part of the exhaust or the muffler, which would get hot and catch fire.

Yes I can vouch for that Swordsman. No leaks with the gas lines/channels, but I'd be really curious as to what caused the burn down. Enjoy your Italia, it's a marvel ... went again for a spin in one today.
