Party with Sammy Hagar and a Few Cars on the Beach in September

The Red Rocker & Co.’s High Tide Beach Party & Car Show ready to ring in its second year with a two-day extravaganza.

For most people, Sammy Hagar was the second frontman for California hard rock legends Van Halen. His voice carried numerous hit songs from the mid-Eighties to the mid-Nineties, like “Why Can’t This Be Love,” “Right Now,” and “Humans Being.” For a few fans, though, The Red Rocker was also a solo artist with a few hits under his belt before and after ‘Van Hagar,’ including one near and dear to our hearts, “I Can’t Drive 55.”

These days, Hagar’s still rockin’ in the free world with a few supergroups, while also slinging his special brand of tequila, and throwing the occasional beach party and car show extravaganza at Huntington State Beach in Huntington Beach, California dubbed Sammy Hagar’s High Tide Beach Party & Car Show. The first edition in 2018 was such a success that this year’s affair will be a two-day rock ‘n’ roll party, set for September 28 and 29.

If you’re wondering what to expect at this now-two-day sand and gasoline rock expo, last year’s outing featured Hagar and his newest supergroup, The Circle, on the big stage, plus Vince Neil of Motley Crue, guitar legend Joe Satriani, REO Speedwagon, and Eddie Money. For 2019, The Circle is the only act confirmed so far (it is Hagar’s party, after all).

Away from the big stage, there was plenty of horsepower on display, including Hagar’s black Ferrari BB 512i from the video for “I Can’t Drive 55.” The lot had a ton of amazing rides parked along the surf and sand, including a silver 2012 Mercedes-AMG SLS, a white Ferrari 458, and a metallic red 2018 Ford GT, all hanging with more than few hot rods and muscle cars of all eras.
