Lexus LC 500 Sweeps Down the Plains of Oklahoma

Lexus LC 500

One of the stars of the 2020 Oklahoma City International Auto Show, Lexus LC 500 drew many fans of high-performance luxury.

Oklahoma City is, for most, a place where Ford trucks go chase tornadoes, and not much else. However, the capital of Oklahoma offers more than just a place for storm-chase prep. The Oklahoma City Thunder bring the boom to the net in the NBA at Chesapeake Energy Arena. The neighborhood of Automobile Alley is one of the city’s most affluent spots. And the city itself has plenty of highways to take your ride of choice for a spirited outing.

And, like many a major city in the United States, it hosts a new-car show every year. Our friends over at Club Lexus recently attended the 103rd edition of the Oklahoma City International Auto Show at the Bennett Event Center. There, they found Lexus’s halo of power, the LC 500.

Lexus was one of a few luxury performance brands on the floor of the event center, parked next to Mercedes-Benz and a selection of exotic cars. The Lexus fit right in at this intersection of style and speed, and it’s hard not to see why.

As all halo cars are supposed to do, the Lexus drew in plenty of fans of luxury performance, including one Kelly Walk, a local resident. Walk said she spent “one lap” with the 5.0-liter, 471-horsepower V8, finding the affair “smooth and powerful.” She added the machine “cornered as well as the Corvette, and is as luxurious as you would expect from a Lexus.”

While the coupe (in standard and hybrid form) is the only LC 500 available at this time, a convertible variant will arrive in Lexus showrooms sometime this summer for those wanting to feel the warm sun and plain-sweeping winds an Oklahoma summer can only offer. That car is expected to be available at a base price of $100,000.

Until then, why not head over to Club Lexus to read more about the LC 500’s appearance at OKC’s new-car show. It’s not often one sees this Lexus out and about, after all, especially when luxury trucks are the name of the game in Oklahoma City.
