Gordon Ramsay’s $2 Million Ferrari Monza SP2 Satiates Our Taste Buds
Famous chef may not have cooked up this particular car, but it’s nonetheless a spectacular piece of machinery.
Celebrities receive extensive press coverage. That’s simply a fact of life. And it’s been par the course for decades. The digital era has only exacerbated this trend. The upside to all this is that when it comes to the cars of the rich and famous, we now know when they purchase the really exciting stuff as soon as it happens. And sometimes we even get an extensive peek at the exact car, if we’re lucky.
That’s what happened recently when celebrated chef and yelling enthusiast Gordon Ramsay took ownership of a Ferrari Monza SP2. London-based H.R. Owen Ferrari sold Ramsay the car and shared some cool pictures and videos of him taking delivery of it. The TFJJ YouTube channel, which focuses on documenting exotic cars around the London area, had access to the Ferrari and took viewers on a brief walk-around before the famous chef got his hands on it.
The Ferrari Monza SP2 is the two-seat variant of the SP1. While the one-seat variant is the most dedicated racer, the SP2 isn’t that far off. And you’re unlikely to find a similar racing-oriented product from another automaker. Obviously, owning something like the Monza SP2 comes with compromises. The lack of a roof prevents owners from venturing too far from their base of operations. But what you get in return is nothing short of spectacular. The TFJJ host goes through a list of what owners get with the Monza lineup and also mentions that Ramsay got something special for his ride. “He’s gone for the historic stripe across the bonnet,” he notes about Ramsay’s great taste.
The interior is no less impressive. “Full carbon fiber on the interior. On the steering wheel even, on the mirror,” observes the the host. Having carbon fiber on those two things from the factory definitely puts a Monza owner in some sort of extremely exclusive club. It’s pretty much a pure work of art that is simultaneously functional as well.
“That has got to be one of the best rear ends I’ve seen on a car in a long time,” exclaims the The TFJJ influencer. We’re inclined to agree with him. The Monza lineup properly calls back to Ferrari’s legendary racing heritage while looking positively sinister, especially with that single LED tail light setup. It also sounds incredibly seductive. As it should, because the Monza SP2 comes equipped with a V12 that’s rated at 809 horsepower. Its carbon fiber construction enables it to tip the scales at about 3,300 pounds and accelerate from 0-60 in 2.9 seconds.
As for Ramsay, it appears he already likes his Monza SP2 quite a bit, because we don’t think he would pose for a picture like that unless he was extremely enthusiastic about it. The dealership is absolutely justified in posting this picture on their Facebook and Instagram pages, because how often do you get the opportunity to see something like this?
Ramsay’s latest purchase is only the latest in a long line of exotics he’s owned. He’s been spotted driving a Ferrari California T in the state it’s named after. He also owns a LaFerrari and a LaFerrari Aperta. Ramsay posted his excitement over purchasing the latter Ferrari on Instagram, where he routinely shares some of his automotive related exploits. Ramsay cultivated an aggressive persona on television, but we’re pretty certain his trademark ire disappears once he gets behind the wheel of one of his cars. The Monza SP2 should be no different.
