Thinking about getting a Daytona..
#12
great watch all around, quality in specific and general practicality, goes with everything so yes you cannot go wrong
i will admit that i am peeved by the fact that it has no date. sure it's its thing but still find myself not impressed when i have to check my phone. i tend to REALLY use my watches given my work so that is probably why i .. 'noticed'
between the rollies i rotate, the ss/plat YM 40mm is my fav so definitely give that a try. shares the polished bracelet and elegant 'older' case, so it would be a nice test for you to check if you're set on the daytona esp given its price
gluck with the hunt and enjoy it!

I'm not a big Rolex fan myself, but based on the type of work I do and my needs (i.e. sporty watch/strong build quality) and as far as movement, reliability and value, it seems like it's hard to go wrong.
Daytona seems like the right idea, although I'm not 100% on the 40 mm size, seems a bit small for these times. Was wondering if they weren't gonna change it to a 42/44 like the Yachtmaster or the Deep Sea..? Don't know if Stryke has any inside info on this.

It's a good watch, but I found that after a few months the novelty wore off.
If you buy enough watches from an AD, they will sell you one without a wait.
You can also purchase from the Watch Collector here on the site, he usually has them in at good prices.

I really like the Daytona, too. A sport watch fits my lifestyle, and I happen to like Rolexes from an aesthetic standpoint, although the brand does carry some baggage. I like the Daytona specifically because (1) it's not a Sub (2) there is tangible motorsports heritage, although it doesn't dominate the physical look of the watch.

I agree, I feel like the black is understated and the right idea. Not looking for too flashy, more like versatility.

Get whichever one your gut tells you to get, then purchase the other dial, and switch back and forth when you want. All you need is a trusted watchmaker who will do dial swaps for you.
Daytona makes for a great everyday beat around watch that has the added plus of looking sharp with a jacket.
I have both dials on the daytona, and like them both for different reasons. If I had one watch, and this was it, I would probably do a black dial, but if you have some diversity, go white.

That being said it's also the only watch I'm aware of that you can resell for more than MSRP following purchase (assuming NIB/unworn condition).
I've thought about picking up a used Sub and just calling it a day.. I dunno, still might do that.

Nice move.
Black and White dial = Baller

Just a thought, you could buy an Invicta 9211 (white dial) and an Invicta 9223 (black dial) and wear them a bit and decide which one you like better. They look very similar to the Daytona and cost less than $100. Once you decide which you like better, buy the Rolex and give them as gifts. The movement on them is terrible but they are nice looking watches (and actually have a date, lol).
