Well, many of you are putting watches that you actually could have in your collection, so I will make of top 5 list of watches I could conceivable have, albeit not all at once.

1) Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Tradionalle: I hope this is my next watch. For some reason I am really desiring a proper three hand watch, the seconds in a sub-dial. WG case, manual wind movement, dauphine hamds, display case back, Geneva seal. Perfect watch for special occasions/nice dinners.

2) Vacheron Constantin Les Historiques chrono: Such a gorgeous chrono. Manual wind, guilloché dial, gorgeous lugs, simply phenomenal. I love the platinum with salmon dial, it makes the watch more fun.

3) PP 5035R: Hotly debated by myself. I am a huge fan of this layout and annual calendar complication. I go back and forth with the 5146, which is the update to this watch. For 5035, I love, love, love the roman numerals for markers, I am a sucker for those. The benefit of the 5146 is the addiction of moonphase which I think looks better than a 24 hour sub-dial. But, I like the roman numerals way better than the markers on the 5146 because they have Arabic 12, 3, and 9, combined with simple hash indicators, which is too many styles IMO.

4) PP 5167: I know many people are not a fan of the aquanaut, but I think it does it's job perfectly. As someone who doesn't like huge, bulky watches, this is the best rubber strap option out. I really love the style of the case, the pattern on the dial, and the simple strap. Plus it has good water resistance. I can't think of anything else I would wear by the pool or on the patio for drinks. One of the most comfortable watches I have had on.

5) PP 6000G: I like this watch because it is not the normal PP. I think the dial is fun and fresh and I love the off center seconds. Perfect daily.

Pretty much all of the watches on this page I could sit and study the details for days, which is what excites me. I'd probably consider my top 5 among those listed, with maybe a variation here or there.

that VC is SO YOU Kevin!! but if for nothing else but the romans, PP wins imho but i am a sucker for annual calendars right now because i only have HMs/chronos
4) PP 5167
dig the aquanaut and saw it irl for the 1st time when i saw the RB2 and the JLCs the other day. too small for me, and was a bit underwhelmed but in its defense i was just browsing the PP catalogue so the 5726 and 5980 as well as the GCs were fresh in my mind

calatravas are so boss, and the date by hand on this one is so boss.. there is one Calatrava in gold with white dial and brown leather w/ similar indicators to the first VC you posted.. so beautiful and extremely classy

haha i know what you mean may he RIP
some Hublots can be had for great deals as daily beaters with the proper materials.. i think what i dislike about them the most is not the huge number of variations because AP does that as well and i love them, but the fact that their prices are a bit too rich and they don't even hold up

that said, i have seen a few deals for ~7 to $9k that make them serious contenders once you shortlist the competition and if you are into the styling

what do you guys make of this?

Audemars Piguet - Millenary 4101 - YouTube

SS version lists for 20.6k
decent for what you get imho once you factor in the AP branding and marketing; i wonder how they hold up 2nd hand, could be a no-brainer at $14.5 imho or is that wishful thinking on my part

I'm glad you think that about the VC because I definitely want it. Hopefully this site is still running by the time I get one! The 5035 is gorgeous with the roman numerals and annual calendar is the perfect complication. They did make an actual hybrid with the roman numerals and moon phase which is really the answer between the 5035 and the 5146, the problem is that the 5056P only comes with the ardiose dial, and I really like the white/off white dial on this piece. The 5167 is definitely small, but my last two watches were 38mm, so it's right up my ally. I am a big fan of calatrava, really a sublime dress watch. I like the one I posted because is has personality, and it fits my style for a daily watch.

I must say, I love what they are trying with the millenary, but I can't get into it. Seeing the balance wheel beating, and the exposed bridges is pretty cool, especially because the mechanical aspect is what I love about watches. For some reason it doesn't win me over. I'd say if you get one at the bottom of the depreciation it would be worth seeing it and trying it on because I think it may be one of those watches that will win you over in person. Member Eddie was looking into buying one, there is a thread.

I was thinking of getting the millenary as my first AP instead of ROO.

I absolutely love the millenary watch. In person the detail on the face and all the pieces is amazing.

Here in the states, Steel is at 28, but I don't know what the going rate is overseas.

I hear a lot of people slamming it online, but amongst people who have seen it in person, most everyone sees its beauty.

Kevin, thanks for the link, very interesting read! i disagree with josh, mark, marc, hani and the lot i am glad Eddie still went the AP route with the ROO
i get you completely about the Pateks, the beauty of PPs is that they always hold up and i can imagine it to be a sort of climbing a ladder with them!

Eddie, from pics alone i can see what you mean and look forward to seeing the 4101 irl. what you described about being bored with the watches is also understandable yet not entirely familiar to me. the red in my collection raised a flag to me, and the essence of a conversation i had with my bro was in the direction of moving a couple rollies due to redundancy, in favour of a 4101

this is not related to this BB hunt, as it will always be "the BB" to me and i NEEEED to see this potential deal through whatever the end result. seller i am corresponding with is a great chap and a Gulf-member vouches for him so now it is all about the pieces of the puzzle falling in the right place and of course at the right time. while i love the bb, it is not $27k love and certainly not going to lose my panda over it

hope i'm not spamming you guys for the past 4 days updates ahead
