My first 'proper' watch purchase...

So in May for my 35th I'm treating myself to a nice watch. I've only ever really worn £600-1000 watches before, and wear these daily. But I want a nice timepiece that I can keep forever and cherish.

I'm basically leaning towards a Tag, mainly because I like the look of a couple of their watches and I like the F1 linkup with the brand.

My frontrunner is the Monaco. It looks great to me, and has the McQueen connection too which adds a bit of cool (in my head).

But I've also seen the Grand Carrera Calibre 17. It seems more like a 'grown up' watch, less gimmicky than the Monaco:

What are the thoughts of the watchistas on here?

The Grand Carrera Calibre 17 would be my choice, but I prefer round watches, not a fan of the square ones. Good Luck, both watches are great.

Between these two, I would pick the Grand Carrera Calibre 17.

That second watch looks like its $15-$22k on cursory check (being gold). IMO, there are a lot of excellent watches at or under that price- for example I LOVE the iwc Portuguese automatic. $12,300

I had the tag Monaco and loved it! That would be my choice from these two, however if you are open to buying a preowned watch you can get some great pieces in your price range!
