What about us with leather straps? I'm guessing I can't really rinse that under water, what would you say is the best method here?

Hate to bring up an old thread, but better than starting a new one. How do you guys keep the polished surfaces on your watch clean? I seem to always have either fingerprints or dust accumulate. Do you just wipe with a soft cloth? Use some sort of spray product. Just curious how you guys clean polished metal without it getting marred. To clarify, I mean simply cleaning to avoid ruining the finish/marring, not what you use to polish.

I don't have a particular method, but I know what Hani does...

^ haha - I will let Hani use that method...

So no one else here gets fingerprints/dust on their polished watches? I guess I need to wear them less or replace them more often.

I just rub mine with a soft cloth or the inside of my t-shirt.

^ Do the polished parts get marred with "clear coat like" scratches?

Nope, seems to be holding up good so far. I wear mine every day so of course I expect it to get some mini scratches here and there but if it gets to the point where I'm not satisfied with the polish I'll just have it repolished. Tada! So far it's pretty much as glossy as day one.

Kev- I remember seeing special polishing cloths for jewelry/china when jos and I were in Reeds.

There is also a company Cizal that makes eyeglass cloths but I also use mine on my watches. It does a good job of picking up grime without smearing it.

i think the most popular trend on here is to buy a new watch instead of cleaning the old one

Toothbrush and hand sanitizer. Alcohol cleans well and the gel form makes a nice carrier for it. Works awesome.
