my daily is a sieko that I've beating the snot out of for the past 4 years, never missed a beat, and its bean through 2 motorbike crashes, I truly love that watch and would never let go of it.

You could do some supply/demand research on these watches.

Choose one that'll resell quickly for a good price and use that money to buy a better watch.

Brand-wise, I like Tissot over the others in that price range. The TW looks sorta cool, but if you're going to wear something the size of a grandfather clock on your wrist, it might be better to wait until it's something of horological merit, otherwise it's just trendy jewelry, and big watches are (IMHO) a bit faddish. Panerai makes it work, and the AP ROO oozes class, but most other big watches are... well, let's say they'll go nicely with your Burberry cap.

The buy-it-sell-it-then-get-what-you-want approach might be the way to go.
