I've always considered the Omegas superior to Tag's. I have both brands, however, and love them.

+1. This is generally true due to market positioning, however Tag's are far from sh*tty and I personally very much like the particular Tag Carrera that you purchased.

I have both, as well as a Breitling previously and I get more compliments by far from my Seamaster. Different strokes but all are good watches.

Best advice that was told to me; Get the watch that makes YOU happy.

Personally I like both the Omega's Planet Ocean 45mm Chrono and Tag's Carrera. I ended up getting an Oris 44mm Chrono Diver b/c I loved the aspect that barely anyone has one. One of the main reasons I dislike Rolex's. Everyone has one, and worse- the knock offs are ALL over the place. It's almost a cliche.

The mentality that it's a 'poor mans' X,Yand Z is dumb. I know several people who have BOTH and would and could argue the merits of each watch.

No love for the Omega, huh? I have an Omega Planet Ocean, and a Zenith Chronomaster, and I tend to wear the Omega more. In terms of quality, the mid-upper end of Tag overlaps the low-mid end of Omega. The low end of Tag is more of a Movado competitor.

Overall, though, similarly priced Tags and Omegas will be similar on quality, so buy what floats your boat. Omegas have a little more brand equity, but Rolex has more brand equity than Omega, and I personally don't see a reason to buy a Submariner over a Planet Ocean, whereas others do.

I am partial to Omegas...

Rolexes don't do it for me. I'd like a Breitling Avenger, a PAM171, and a Chopard Mille Miglia XL Chrono. That'd be it.

I am a big Tag fan and their line has always appealed to me. All brands mentioned above are great time pieces, and I agree completely it is all personal taste.

Just picked up an Omega PO chrono with orange #'s and LOVE it. It's a must to try them on and decide what fits/looks best. Good luck!

I'm a little bias, since i own a tag and do not own an omega, but i can say this. In my opinion i prefer (in most cases) the styling of the omega. However, out of the few people i know who have recent (2000+) omega's, quite a few of them have had stupid problems that require constant warranty work. My tag's never been anywhere other than on my wrist or in its case.
