Hey guys,

I need some help on a new watch as I believe this place has the most gurus in this matter.
I'm looking to buy a daily watch for around $4k maximum. It could be cheaper but not more expensive. What I'm looking for is ;

- Semi high end brand
- Daily /Sporty ( No creme dials with croc strap )
- Motorsport Heritage or Connection ( Like Tag Monaco, LM, F1, DTM etc..)
- Limited Edition ( If possible, not a must ! )

What is out there around these criteria ?

The carbon Fiber dial looks much better in person than in photos.

 

A (perhaps used) IWC Ingenieur or Aquatimer Automatic, on a rubber strap. I'd also consider a Tag Heuer Monaco or Omega Speedmaster.

 

$4k - easy choice. Rolex Submariner or GMT II. Simple, timeless, classic and most importantly, will lose very little if any value over time. Every other watch in that price category drops value like a 3 year old Chevy as soon as you purchase it. If you don't go with a Rolex sub or GMT, then buy a used Panerai, TAG, Brietling, etc that sell for less that half of what they cost new, even if they are in perfect, mint condition.

 

I'm with BigE, go with a sub.

 

Tag Heuer Carrera:
Retails for around $3K, can be easily had for less. not a limited edition, but it's the kind of watch that instantly identifies you as someone who is into cars, and appreciates fine things, without being a really "showy" watch. Tag's make great daily's I wear a link automatic everyday.
